Amazing Food! I got the grilled octopus and it was fantastic! There are two parts to the restaurant. One is more of an open family area and small bar and the other is a more intimate area with booths. Both sides were very pretty and the waiting staff was so nice! I would 100% recommend for a nice dinner out.
We stopped in Sunday -absolutely delish food! We got the ceviche and paella -the ceviche was very authentic and the paella was perfectly cooked. The prices were reasonable and our waitress was such a kind, helpful, and sweet woman (dark hair, braces, and adorable!). The atmosphere was clean and gorgeously decorated. We will definitely recommend this place and return!
Back again and so happy about it. Everyone loved their food. Their flank steak in particular, I'm still dreaming about it. Tender and excellent flavour profile. I love that it feels so authentic and sat out on the patio on a beautiful day and it was such a vibe.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Rio. I had the lamb shank and she had a beloved whole red snapper. Both were completely authentic representations of the dishes, as they are found in Central or South America. The causas sampler was delicious and thoughtfully assembled, while the "sweet experience" (a sampler of all their desserts) was equally delicious. Everything was washed down with regional drinks that are not regularly found in the US, and certainly not in Michigan, although more standard options exist from the full bar. All the servers appeared to be on top of their game, and Jose certainly took great care of us. Overall, a really great experience, worthy of an anniversary dinner! Recommended!
This is the closet thing I can get to my home country. From Inca Cola, to Chica morado and many other things that most South Americans get the chance to have. They have a variety of Mexican and Peruvian dishes. Not much vegan options but they do have a good selection of seafood. Grilled items are safe for gluten free options. Their non-alcoholic drinks are very good highly recommended and a great place for dates or for catching up with a friend! The service there is amazing and excellent. Very professional and friendly. From the decor it seems that they also have recently added more things for outside seating and entertainment with the stage inside so it would be a great place for you and a significant other to go to or even a large family gathering.
This place is GORGEOUS wow!!! Really well decorated and feels high end. The service is quick and attentive. They are flexible with substitutions. I ordered the lomo saltado and it was fantastic! The peach margarita on the rock is stellar as well. Can't believe it took me this long to come here.
Came here for my husband's birthday and we were all really happy with the service and food! Portions are large and carry great flavors - staff was extremely friendly (even though we were being really loud). Each round of shots came out on an airplane, which made it really fun! We ordered a Margarita tower, ceviche, paella, tacos, and a host of other items that I can't recall. The ceviche sticks out in my mind for being really fresh. The paella was super flavorful, and the guac is homemade. I think they're still running lunch specials during the week. From what I've heard - their lunch portions are huge and the price is extremely affordable ($11?).
Derek and I had never had Peruvian food, so we were in for a treat! Rio is so fun inside, between the decor and the round red booths! More importantly though, the food!!!! We started with a soda from Peru, which I think tasted like cream soda, but Derek said it tastes like bubblegum. It's up for debate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Then we had some crostini- type crackers and chimichurri, which reminded me how much I love chimmichuri For our main course, I had the churrasco, which came with fried plaintains and fries. I really didn't know what I was getting myself into but it was so good The sauce that went with it was *chefs kiss*. Derek for the half a chicken, with yuca fries and Mexican rice. It was all delicious, but even more so when we mixed the chicken with the rice, with the sauce that came with mine We ended our meal with bread pudding- it was so warm and delicious, it felt like the perfect ending to our cozy dinner.
The portion is generous. Prices are moderately high. Service was friendly and came by often enough. The churrasco was good on flavor but tough on texture as most steak skirts are. The plantains were sweet and delicious. The chimmichurri was excellent though very oily. The fries were subpar in texture, fry oil tasting. The refried beans (part of the fajitas dish) were too runny, could not scoop it up with a fork. Did not get the name of the dessert, but it was an odd mushy texture that I did not enjoy much.
I was excited to see a Peruvian restaurant about to open on 28th street. A friend and I managed to treat ourselves to dinner a few days after it opened. We walked in and were promptly greeted. Even on the opening weekend it was well staffed and not too busy. There was an open dining area where they had opened up a garage door to let the fresh breeze in. The restaurant had both Mexican and Peruvian fares but we decided to focus on the Peruvian food, since neither of us ever had it. We ordered drinks and decided to share all of our plates so that we could sample more. We started out with the ceviche, which is a National food that Peru is known for. The ingredients are seafood, corn (Choclo, a large-kernel variety of field corn from the Andes), onions, and roasted corn to ad texture. The seafood is not cooked over heat, it is cooked in lemon juice. This keeps the food fresh tasting, and it is a lovely summer dish. We added on fried plantains and yucca fries. These were very mild and starchy. We asked for some dipping sauce, so the server made us ketchup and Mayo mixed. In the future I'd like to try these with chimichurri sauce or guacamole. We couldn't wait to try the roasted octopus that we ordered. I'd imagine many Americans may be squeamish to try this, but it was really delicious! The plate presentation was beautiful, and the octopus was tender and not fishy. It had a wonderful flavor. The paella was spiced perfectly and comforting. It had that bright yellow color from the saffron. We were pretty full by that point, but we were determined to try a traditional dessert. We chose Mazamorra Morada, which is made with purple corn and fruit, and has the consistency of jelly. It was spiced with cinnamon and cloves. It was like nothing we've ever had before. It was lightly sweet. There are so many other things that we wanted to try, so we will be back. It has Mexican food for those less adventurous, but I'd definitely recommend trying the Peruvian food for a wonderful dining experience!
